
Strengthening Defence and National Security

DEFENCE PROCUREMENT ​

Over the next four years, the PDRM government will gradually increase defence spending to 1.5% of our national GDP

Reassess future procurement plans to see if any changes are required in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic

Create a joint procurement plan between all services to ensure a more streamlined procurement process​

Send security vetted SPRM officials to regularly audit current and future defence procurement programmes​

RESPONSE COORDINATION ​

Improve naval and aerial incursion response coordination between MMEA and the Armed Forces by creating an appropriate escalation ladder

Expand and develop NACSA to improve Malaysia’s cyber operations
​

Strengthen our forward area operation capabilities to continue safeguarding Malaysian citizens and interests abroad
MILITARY WELFARE ​

Implement safeguards against sexual harassment and discrimination in the Armed Forces

Matching pensions to the current cost of living for veterans
​

Providing tertiary education opportunities to active and reserve personnel


NATIONAL SECURITY ​

Restructure the National Security Council to allow for more meetings and to have better planning and response coordination for future crises
​

Create the position of a National Security Advisor who will advise the Prime Minister and the National Security Council on matters of national security
​

Malaysian Intelligence Agencies and Special Branch will refocus their efforts from political spying to investigating transnational criminal activities and potential terrorist groups
DEFENCE INDUSTRY ​

Work with local defence companies for future procurement initiatives and maintenance contracts
​

Support greater technological innovation and improve their workforce with promising graduates
​

Empower local defence companies to conduct repair and maintenance of military equipment


INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS​

Conducting and expanding joint anti-piracy and coast guard patrol operations together with other ASEAN states
​

Committed to joint military training exercises with all foreign states that are open to working with us in good faith.
